Holiness is a condition of the mind and not a physicalappearance of the flesh. Proverbs 4:20-23

V23 “Keep thy heart,” what this means is  “guard it to protect it”.

Even in the King James Bible the translation of words doesnot reflect the meaning that the author was trying to convey.  Therefore we have to dig a little deeper tofind the meaning of the words.

V23 “With all diligence,” Guard it as if you would a fort, your house.

Most everything you do comes from the heart, it controlsyour life, and it’s the source of your life.

God does not want us to compromise.  Revelation 3:15,16,22

We have a responsibility to listen to what God has to say tous we do this through reading and listening.

Foxe’s Book of Martyrs there is a true story about a womannamed Wendelmuta.

In Holland also, inthe year 1527, was martyred and burned a good and virtuous widow, namedWendelmuta.  This widow, receiving toher heart the brightness of God’s grace, by the appearing of the gospel, wasapprehended and committed to the Castle of Werden, and shortlyafter was brought to appear at the general sessions of that country.  Several monks were appointed to talk withher, that they might convince her and win her to recant; but she, constantlypersisting on the truth, would not be moved.

Many also of her kindred tried to reason with her; amongwhom there was a noble matron, who loved and favoured dearly the widow inprison.  This matron coming, andcommuning with her, said, “My Wendelmuta, why doest thou not keep silence,  and think secretly in thine heart thesethings which thou believest, that thou mayest prolong here thy days in life?”

Isn’t that what we want today?  Don’t tell anyone they might get up set.  You would’ent want anyone to know how youbelieved.

What did she do?

She answered, “Ah, you know not what you say.  It is written, ‘With the heart manbelieveth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made untosalvation’ (Romans 10:10).” And thus, remaining firm and steadfast in her belief and confession,on the twentieth day of November she was condemned by sentence as an heretic,to be burned to ashes, and her goods to be confiscated; she was taking thesentence of her condemnation mildly and quietly.

After she came to the place where she was to be executed,a monk had brought out a cross, desiring her to kiss and worship her God.  “I worship. ”said she, “no wooden god, butonly that God which is in heaven;” and so with a joyful countenance, she wentto the stake.  Then taking the powder, and laying it to her breast, she gave her neck willingly to be bound, and withan ardent prayer commended herself to the hands of God.  When the time came that she should bestrangled, she modestly closed her eyes, and bowed down her head as one thatwould tale a sleep.  The fire then wasput to the wood, and she being strangled, was burned afterwards to ashes, -instead of this life to get the immortal crown in heaven.

Who putWendelmuta to death?  The Church.

We have to stand for what the Bible states as the truth andnot what we might believe in.

What we say does not change the truth.  The Bible is the benchmark for thetruth.

Sin is revealed to us by reading God’s word.  You cannot sin and not pay for it in someform.

Sin is like spiritual AIDS you have it but you do not knowhow badly.

You have to evaluate your actions to determine the extent ofinfection of spiritual AIDS that you have.

Satan attacts us in four ways: John 10:10.

1.     Thief – he enters without force.  We let him in

2.     Steel - he slowly takes our spiritual righteousness

3.     Kills – kills the spirit in us

4.      Destroy - he destroysour spirit and self esteem.

We have to be careful what we:

1.     Read

2.     see

3.     Listen to

4.     Go

5.     Think

Spiritual AIDs grows based on what we inject through thescenes.

Do not let the devil lie to you.

We have to be careful whom we listen to.

There are people even in the church that will lead you awayfrom God.  Give you bad advice.

Jude calls them clouds without water.  Jude 12, 13

You know what Jesus says about issues:

Jesus never mixes words with the people he encounters.  Matthew 23:27, 33

V27- Sepulchres were whitened a month before the Passover towarn off persons from contacting uncleanness. This is found in Numbers 19:16

They looked good on the outside but were unclean on theinside.

Jesus called spiritual AIDs leaven.  Matthew 16:6, 11, 12

1.              It has no odor

2.              Cannot see it

3.              Cannot detect it with the senses.

It works in secret/silently under cover.

There are different types of leaven that can be in us and itweakens our spirit.

Jesus exposed the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees eachencounter with them He also told them to be aware of Herodians.

Pharisees leaven was

1.     Doctrine - Mark 7:7, 8 they were teaching the doctrinesand commandments of men.  They rejectedthe commandments of God.

2.     Hypocrisy – Luke 12:2 they said you had to do religiousdeeds and yet they did not practice what they preached. They wereSanctimonious, high-minded

3.     Works – Matthew 23:5 they were quick to let everyonesee them fast, tithe, pray, and study.

Phylactery – or frontal – was astrip of parchment with four passages of Scripture written upon it in thefollowing order Deut 11:13-22; 6:4—9; Ex. 13:11-16; 13:1-10.  Each strip was rolled up, tied with thewhite hairs of a calf’s or a cow’s tail, and placed in one of the compartmentsof a small box. During prayer these phylacteries were worn by the maleIsraelites firmly attached with leather straps to the forehead between theeyebrows, and the left arm, so as to be near the heart.  To “broden their phylacteries” was to makethe strips wider, requiring a larger box, thus making them moreconspicuous.  The real meaning ofphylacteries is equivalent to amulets or charms. The rabbinists regarded andtreated them as such, even though they otherwise disclaimed all connection withheathen views and fear of demons.

Sadducees leaven was:

1.     Doctrine – Acts 23:8 they did not discern thescriptures.

2.      Theydid not believe in the supernatural, angels, spirits, and life afterdeath.

3.      Theyonly believed in the written Mosaic Law that ceased to exist after thedestruction of the Temple in 70 A.D.

4.      The Sadducees were the rich Jews of that day,the aristocratic priests.

Herodians leaven was:

1.        Sexual immorality- 1 John 2:15-17 they had the spiritof the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride oflife.  This lust cost Herod hislife.  Herod allowed the lust of theworld to rule his life.  This obsessioncost John the Baptist his life.

·       The spirit of the world-Mark 8:36 they madejudgments about life to focus on only how it effected their individuallife.

·       Sin satisfies for a moment but what next.  Today it is hard to tell where the worldends and the church begins.  News, soaps, movies, dating games, and such.

·       What we watch effects who we are in Christ.  You cannot flirt with the world and not getany on you.  You are what you watch andhear.

·       What do you spend Gods tithe money on?

Corinthiansleaven was:

1.Excessiveimmorality and sexual promiscuity, 1Corinthians 5:1 (immorality) Websterdefines it as “a merry profligate man, completely given up to dissipation andlicentiousness.”  You come into churchfrom the city and bring it with you. Paul was talking about a Christian that was sleeping with his father’swife.  The pastor has to preach pastthis type of behavior to get to some folks    inthe church.  We are the product of whatwe listen to and see. People can change, 1Corinthians 7:9 Paul rejoicesbecause the man repented for what he was doing.

As Christians weshould have the mind of Christ as stated in 1 Corinthians 2:16.  Do not try to justify making your owndissensions the Bible says that He who self-governs is a fool.  Do not be your own judge.  You cannot get God to bless something thatHe has already cursed.

We have to teachourselves and our children to make life choices.  Deuteronomy 30:19.

Galatians leaven was:

Religiouslegalism- Galatians 3:1-3 they justified their relationship with God bythe works of the flesh.

You cannot establishyour relationship with God through works of any kind.

Galatians2:16 The church at Galatia were a mixture of Jews and Gentiles. The Jewscontinued to insist that the Gentiles had to obey the Mosaic Law.

We continue toplace religious denominational rules and regulations on people and ourselvestrying to please God.

You cannot servegrace and the flesh at the same time.  Galatians5:1-4.

Grace is the freegift of God and Redemption is the purpose of Grace.

Ephesians 2:8 andGalatians 3:13.

·       You cannot hide leaven(sin) it will come out, show up when you least expect it.

·       What is in you will comeout.  When it does it will embarrassyou.

·       1 Corinthians 5: 6-8 We have to over come our fleshlydesires and look to God for our fulfillment in life.

·       You have to get intoGod’s word

·       Pray for the spirit ofwisdom and revelation Ephesians 1:17.

·       We have to haveconfidence in ourselves that we can overcome Galatians 5:10.

·       We have to know who Godis; He is defined in His myriad of names.

1.              Jehovah Ropheka: “I am the god that healeth thee.”

2.              Jehovah Tsidkenu:  “I am theLord God, your righteousness.”

3.              Jehovah M’kaddesh; I am the Lord God, your holiness.”

4.              Jehovah Shammah; I am the God who is always present with you.”

5.              Jehovah Shalom;  I am the Godof your peace.”

6.              Jehovah Rohi; I am the Lord God your shepherd.”

7.              Jehovah Jireh; I am the God who supplies before there is a need.”

We need to read theTen Commandments and get them in our heads and minds Deuteronomy 5: 6-21.

Do not be conformedto this world Romans 12: 1-2.

Grace requires noworks Ephesians 2:3 and Galatians 3:13.

We need to humbleourselves 1 Peter 5:6.

It does not matterhow much you legalize (justify) a lie it still won’t get you to heaven.

As soon as you get ahandle on how grace works from God in our lives you will be able to let worksgo.
