Scriptures:John 8; 1-34; Colossians 1:13-17; James 1:2-4; 2Timothy 1:7;
True Deliverance takes place when a Spiritual change has
taken place within us.
sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. When we find we want to make a change and
get rid of any number of things that control and posses us God will be there to
Psalms 34:4 we find 3 words that are important to us.Sought, Deliver and Fear.
·Sought-is a word of strong meaning to follow or
pursuit, inquire, make an inquisition, seek out.
·Delivered- Rescued, to snatch away, recover,
rid, save, strip.
·Fear- A fright, anxiety, dread, alarm.
8:30 (KJV) 30As he spake these words, many believed on him. 31Then
said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye
continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;32And ye
shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.33They
answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how
sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? 34Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is
the servant of sin.
Take time to read John 8:1-29 to understand where Jesus is
and what He is doing.
“My word”, Jesus is talking about things. The words that He had spoken of
in v29 about whom He was and what they had to do.These things were the interactions that
Jesus had with the people that came in contact with Him along with the
miracles that He preformed.The
actions came from the Father.He
responded to His Father the Lord being sensitive to what God wanted Him to
Often we talk about telling the truth. We tell our children to tell the truth – it will be easer on
you.Do you tell God the
truth?The same law applies.
We always try to justify why we do the things we do.When what we should be doing is
acknowledge our sin and separate ourselves from it.
Jesus here is trying to get their attention to tell them when you sin,
“you serve the Devil” There is only one choice you are either serving the
Lord or the Devil but not both.Matthew 6:24”No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate
the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise
the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 For though we walk in the
flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4(For the weapons of our
warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong
holds;) 5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that
exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every
thought to the obedience of Christ; 6And having in a readiness to
revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
2 Corinthians 10:3-6
are in a physical body but we do not war according to the flesh. That is the way they did it in the Old
Testament.Judges 21-24 Then
Jael Heber’s wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand,
and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and
fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.
22And, behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet
him, and said unto him, Come, and I will show thee the man whom thou
seekest. And when he came into her tent, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the
nail was in his temples. 23So God subdued on that day Jabin the
king of Canaan before the children of Israel. 24And the hand of
the children of Israel prospered, and prevailed against Jabin the king of
Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of Canaan. This type
of thinking will get you in trouble.
this is not a flesh thing this is a spiritual thing.Strongholds – are carnal things on our
lives that are not of God.
When you do things that you know are against God – you automatically place
them above God.They are as much
an idol as any physical idol. When
your thought process starts to wander you better start thinking
God/Christ.Lots of things fall
into this category.
Get a hold of yourself put your foot down. Why you are at it step on the Devils head.2 Timothy 1:7 explains it best.7For God hath not
given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound
mind.Fear is not of
God.You have to cast it off like
every thing else.Do not let the
Devil play with your mind.God
says you have a sound mind.God
has already told you – “You are delivered.”
Colossians 1:13-17 3Who hath delivered us from the power
of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14In
whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15Who
is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16For
by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth,
visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17And
he is before all things, and by him all things consist. If you feel the Devil is fighting you
tell him you are delivered through the Blood of Christ and His forgiveness
is all encompassing.Even the
Devil has to obey God.So use your
God given right to put the devil in his place.“The Devils attack is to distract” does the Devil obey God
better that you do.
cannot break the rules. So if you serve
God you have the upper hand. For your
sake use it.We have to know whom we
are in Christ without this understanding you will not find victory.Confidence only comes with wisdom in knowing
what to do in situations.Look at James
1:2-6, My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers
temptations; 3Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh
patience. 4But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be
perfect and entire, wanting nothing. 5If any of you lack wisdom, let
him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it
shall be given him. 6But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For
he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.God holds the key to peace in our lives and
if we are not using God and seeking His guidance we have missed it.
Temptation is not sin it is a passing thought, idea, or glance.Things happen it’s the dwell time that
crosses the line to sin.Be quick
to dispose of temptation as it shows its self to you.
– Stand on your faith that God will expose these to you to give you the
opportunity to release them from your mind. These small victories are what build patience. You will start to see the difference in
how you handle things.Other
people will also start to notice how well you control yourself.Be proud of that, few people have
control of themselves.
You will need wisdom and that comes from God.So ask for it.Proverbs 8 is all about wisdom v35 explains it well. You have to continually work out your
own salvation to insure that you do not fall pray to what the Devil has
for you. Do not always blame the Devil for everything; you have enough
flesh on board to cause problems yourself.Do not play games with the Devil he knows God’s word and how
to use it on you, He knows our weaknesses and he will use them to defeat
Devil pushes and God leads.”If you
feel that you are being pushed into something it’s probably not God.
